CEO's in Career Mode
“The CEO Place is the consummate organization for my time and money. I say that in retrospect, having been the member of a very pricey CEO group too. The monthly meetings are worthwhile and enjoyable with a quick business based guest speaker, a member’s “success/war story” which is their story of an extraordinary business experience, and a rapid fire problem solving session where a member brings up his or her immediate issue and the other CEOs offer advice to meet that issue. Beyond the meeting features, there are always ample venues for networking including a time before the regular meetings, occasional lunches held by and for local members, and the member hosted evening networking meetings. Today I belong to one CEO group and this is the place, The CEO Place.”

“I joined the CEO Group, not long after John Facella founded the organization. In fact we met in Wellesley during those early days, but still maintained the strong ideals that are in place today. The meetings have always been extremely upbeat and as John often pointed out “ the lot of the CEO or General Manager is a lonely one “ and here was a haven for cross discussion and a forum for sharing Ideas, concerns, War Stories, or if you wish, just listening to the range of eclectic speakers presenting each month.
During the late 80`s I decided to enter the world of private equity investment and early stage entrepreneurship and founded a company producing a handheld payment device, then a software company producing High Performance Retail software, then a company in the plastics recycling environment, followed by co founding Way Systems Inc. www.waysystems.com , which after three years was followed by founding Way Solutions Inc Canada. During each of these stages I had the benefit of John Facella and Harry Blakeslee’s forever available ears to bounce ideas & concerns for feedback. In fact I even presented a couple of War stories myself !
Recently, I decided to migrate back into the corporate world by accepting a position as an officer with Hypercom Corporation and provide a path for enthusiastic , young managers to look after my investments, while I proceeded with the challenges provided by a large public company. I will continue to maintain contact with the group in the future, even though I will be located in that lovely warm climate of Arizona!” www.hypercom.com

"As an operating President & COO, who travels often to the Far East and spends limited time in the office,
my most precious commodity is time. For me to commit multiple hours to any offsite meeting, even once per
month, is an important decision.
I have been very impressed with the recent speakers and their respective topics at the monthly The CEO
Place meetings. I find their information of the quality that I can hear it and use it, virtually immediately,
in my daily business life. It is primarily for this reason and the ability to interact with other CEO's that
I continue to commit to The CEOPlace and attend, whenever I am in town, the meetings.
Keep up the good work!"

"The CEO Place has been a good resource to me in running my company. The organization has been great as a
sounding board and a place to get the thoughts of other CEOs who have 'been there'. I have gotten business
referrals and even some new business from members of this group."

"Over the years my membership in The CEO Place has provided significant benefits in periods of career
transition as well as during operating assignments. Examples include:"
- Logistics Outsourcing Suggestions with the potential to cut distribution cots by up to 20%;
- Recommendation of alternative PCB and assembly suppliers offering better cycle times, extended capabilities, improved first pass yields … and advantageous pricing;
- Identification of experienced LEAN consultants that will save my company $300,000+ in operating costs over the next 6 months and long-term, reduce my inventories by 25-30%;
- Identification of hiring candidates - Note: It was great to save $40,000+ in recruiting fees and have a candidate on board within 7 days of making a decision to replace a senior member of my operating staff;
- Free seminars such as 'Power Hiring' - Note: I use their basic strategy all of the time;
- Independent and objective sounding board for downsizing strategy;
- Networking referrals that resulted in my current position at Thermo KeyTek;
- Development of a close relationship with key speakers such as Alan Glou
